Switzerland updates sanctions in connection with the situation in Ukraine

On 16 October 2024, the Swiss Federal Council resolved to implement most of the measures from the 14thsanctions package of the European Union. The new measures were implemented on 17 October 2024 and the Swiss Ordinance on Measures in Connection with the Situation in Ukraine amended accordingly. Already on 8 July 2024, 116 individuals and businesses were added into the Swiss sanctions list, together with some initial measures of the 14th sanctions package that were enacted on 21 August 2024. Just a few days later, on 30 October 2024, the Federal Council implemented further sanctions on Belarus, therefore reinforcing the collaborative partnership between Switzerland and the EU regarding sanctions, as the Federal Council stated in its press release.
