
Daniel S. Weber
Co-Chair Working Group InvestigationsDaniel S. Weber is a partner at Barandun in Zurich and has many years of experience in banking and financial markets law (including fintech), internal and regulatory investigations and white-collar and cybercrime. Daniel supports individuals and corporations in complex regulatory and compliance matters and represents them in licensing and enforcement proceedings as well as in investigations by domestic and foreign supervisory and criminal authorities. Daniel is recognized by various legal directories as a leading lawyer in his areas of expertise. Daniel completed his law studies at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) and is admitted to the bar and as a notary of the Canton of Zug (Switzerland). In 2014, he obtained an LL.M. degree from the University of California Berkeley School of Law. Before joining Barandun, Daniel worked for several years at internationally oriented commercial law firms, at a major Swiss bank as its deputy head of investigations and at the Swiss regulator FINMA in the enforcement division. He is co-heading the compliance & investigations section of the Zurich Bar Association and is a member of SRO PolyReg's expert commission on money laundering. Daniel also served as a (part-time) prosecutor of the Swiss Military Justice where he was a department head until 2023. He regularly teaches in advanced training courses of Swiss Universities and is an author in his fields of expertise.
