Monthly lab May: Investigations and Whistleblowing

Dear working group colleagues, we welcome you to the May Monthly lab where we will discuss and exchange on the topic investigations and whistleblowing.

Whistleblowing is the primary detection tool for being informed about ongoing ethical misconduct. The question is therefor how effective is your whistleblowing system, do employees know the channels were they can report, have you considered cultural elements when rolling out the whistleblowing system?

 Whistleblowing is only effective if afterwards this is followed up by an effective investigation. Are your investigators properly skilled? Do they follow the principles of professionalism, compliance with the law, confidentiality, unbiased, free of conflict of interest. Does your company have a clear workflow as to who investigates what kind of allegations?

We would like to hear from working group practitioners’ best practices and challenges with whistleblowing and investigations.
