On 12 August 2025, the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER), which is responsible for sanctions, expanded the sanctions lists relating to Russia. Thus, Switzerland adopted various changes that the European Union had decided on as part of its 18th package of sanctions and amended the Swiss Ordinance on Measures in Connection with the Situation in Ukraine accordingly regarding the situation in Ukraine.

Furthermore, Switzerland has also adopted the further listings decided by the European Unions on 15 July 2025 concerning Moldova and on 18 July 2025 concerning Belarus.
