U.S. Hospitals ask for relief from healthcare fraud laws during COVID-19 pandemic

In the U.S., several hospital groups called on the U.S. Department of Justice (“DOJ”) to stop imposing penalties on providers whose COVID-19-related remuneration violate healthcare fraud laws during crisis. While the DOJ has not commented the call, federal officials have widely remarked on potential healthcare fraud schemes coming out of the COVID-19 crisis.
